Tuning the Installation
Now that you've installed OS X Lion, here are a couple of modifications you'll need to make:
The Ralink Wireless Utility you install will most like not work, but fear not, there is a fix! Simply download an older version of it, which I've uploaded and outlined in detail here.
- Install AppleAzaliaAudio.kext and IOUSBFamily.kext from your Snow Leopard installation to /System/Library/Extensions (S/L/E) of your Lion installation.
- Install the Ralink Wireless Utility (if you haven't already thought of attempting this).
- Update to v10.7.5, which we will outline soon.

Updating to 10.7.5
Once you've fine-tuned your Lion installation, it's time to update to v10.7.5. Updating Lion is following the same concept as updating Snow Leopard: Run the combo update, then install the appropriate kernel. However, there are a few differences between the two:
- Instead of downloading a combo update package from Apple's website, it is now recommended to use the built-in Software Update application to download and install the update.
- For the sake of convenience, you will be replacing the existing mach_kernel with the kernel you will be downloading. This means you will be renaming the kernel file to "mach_kernel" (and, optionally, you can backup the original mach_kernel as "mach_kernel.old"). You can download the "connactic" kernel here.
